The Street

Bavona rode along with the princess, her heart thumping with excitement and no small amount of apprehension at what they were going to do at the bakery. Slowing the horse to a walk, she took a deep breath and tried to concentrate only on the excitement.

"So how long have you known your... gentleman?" Desdemona asked, she was not a gossip yet she could not be but curious.

Bavona thought over the question... how long had she known him? "When I was a child...we lived in town for awhile." she murmured, smiling. "He and I played and he protected me from the nasty children who knew I was from Mystenia. So about 12 years."

"So you and him are good friends then?" Desdemona asked smiling. They seemed to be a rather handsome couple, it would be perfect if could be together. Desdemona was convinced in her role to help her new found friend out.

"Yes, but as we grew older... he began to be odd about women. He finds them odd, I think." she giggled.

"Oh yes..." Desdemona giggled along Bavona. "So he's gotten shy has he?"

"Perhaps... but he is not so with his fellows." she added, noticing the bakery up ahead. Her heart began to pick up speed and she swallowed.

Desdemona smiled secretly. It seem, from what Bavona was telling her, that he liked her too. "So shall we plan our course?" Desdemona chuckled.

Bavona nodded, pointing at the bakery up ahead. "He is usually baking this time of day... How should we approach him?" she giggled, thinking they were like spiders approaching a fly.

"Hmm... we shouldn't be too oblivious," Desdemona said thoughtfully. "What do you think? Shall I go in first, ask him then give you a signal to go in?"

Thinking for a brief moment, Bavona nodded.
"That does sound best." she smiled. "What will your signal be?"

"Hmm..." Desdemona thought for a moment. "Shall I buy a loaf of bread of him then?"

Bavona nodded, happily. "Perfect." she was starting to be overwhelmed with happiness. "Thank you very much for doing this." she repeated.

"No problem at all Bavona," Desdemona smiled. "I am happy to help."

Bavona laughed, dismounting from her house. "It is kind of you though. If you ever need anything of me... I hope you consider my hand in friendship kindly."

"I shall consider you hand, if I ever do." Desdemona dismounted as well.

"So, until I give I signal, you'll stay out of sight?"

Bavona nodded. "Indeed. It would be best, do you not think?" she murmured, already leading her horse behind a nearby house.

"Might you bring Charles with you?" Desdemona asked offering Charles' reigns to Bavona.

Bavona reached back and took the horse's reigns from the princess. "Of course, my lady." she smiled, both hands now holding onto to the horses. She almost wished she was the wonderful princess's ladies maid instead of the Dowager Queens. Of course, she did not dislike the small quiet woman... but it was boring and Bavona was a free spirit to say the least.

"Thank you, Bavona," Desdemona smiled. And without further notice, she headed for the bakery.
